Maybe you have heard your friends talk about Pilates? Or maybe you have read about Pilates in a newspaper or magazine?
Pilates is named after its creator, a remarkable man called Joseph Pilates. As a sickly child, Joseph Pilates began working on exercises to strengthen his own body. He continued to develop his exercise method during the First World War. Pilates is a system of exercises offering a safe but challenging whole body workout. Many of the exercises are deceptively simple with the emphasis on quality not quantity. One of the best things about Pilates is that it works so well for a wide range of people. Pilates is suitable for everyone, whatever their age or exercise background.
And Pilates exercises the mind too. Concentrating on the exercises helps relieve stress and release tension. With regular practise, you will start to look and feel different and your stronger body will help you with everyday living.
